A rustic wooden crate filled with artisanal goods, resting on a sunlit farmhouse table with soft golden and green tones

Our Story

A warm-toned still life of handcrafted wooden crates with natural grain, arranged beside dried botanicals in soft amber light

How It All Began

JBMaryn started with a simple wish. Jodie Marynowski wanted to hand someone her Christmas list and let them do the rest — and from that spark, a gift concierge was born in March 2012. Together with artist Art Bromberg, she set out to make giving easier and more meaningful.

What began as a holiday solution quickly grew into something bigger. Friends and neighbors loved the idea of curated gifts that celebrated Humboldt County's flavors and craftsmanship, and soon Jodie and Art were filling orders year-round.

From Baskets to Redwood Crates

Early gifts were assembled in traditional baskets, but Art saw an opportunity to create something truly distinctive. Working in their studio, he began building crates from reclaimed Redwood — wood with history, sourced right here in Humboldt County. Each crate is hand-built and often hand-painted by Art, turning the container itself into part of the gift.

Rooted in Humboldt

Everything we do reflects a commitment to this place. Our crates showcase hundreds of products from Humboldt County and across California — hot sauces, sweets, bath goods, kitchen staples, and more. By partnering with local makers and producers, we help share the taste and spirit of the North Coast with every gift that leaves our studio.

Today, JBMaryn operates from McKinleyville, California, still guided by the same belief: giving should be personal, effortless, and full of local character.
