J’s Blog

Gift Shop

J- I started out my week with every intention to write this post early. It just happened to be one of those weeks where things kept popping up out of nowhere. Was a bit of a struggle to stay organized and on top of it, so unfortunately our little blog got moved to the back burner. I’m finally getting around to it, and honestly, couldn’t be happier. Blogging really is one of my favorite things to do. That being said, this new Easter egg decorating project I tried was not.

I have been a little obsessed with all trends gold right now. And when I saw this blog post at Sugar & Cloth, I got an idea to try something new with my Easter eggs this year.

Supplies I used for this project are:

Martha Stewart Multi Surface Acrylic Craft Paint

Paint dauber Sponges

Hard Boiled Eggs

Egg Carton

Soft Paint Brush, small

Gold Foil

Spray Adhesive

First thing I did was take the hard boiled eggs out of the fridge and let them sit for about half an hour. Then wiped them off with a paper towel. Then dipped the dauber into the paint & started coloring half the egg. Once half was done I would put it in the egg carton to paint the other half. Once all the eggs were done I stuck them back into the fridge to dry. I don’t know how long they needed. I honestly started working on another project and forgot about them in the fridge for a couple of days. WhenI got back around to decorating the eggs I then sprayed adhesive on it, then cover the sticky area with gold foil. Use a soft brush to pat the foil onto the egg. All finished.

As I stated earlier, I didn’t love this project. It really took longer than you would think to work with the gold foil. Most foil would stick to me more than the egg. If I were to do this project again, I wouldn’t use spray adhesive, I would paint on adhesive in the places I wanted the gold. The spray was too hard to control and made me a sticky mess. All that aside I do like how they look.

Have you ever tried an Easter egg dying project that turned out a little different than you had expected?
