A- Here’s an idea for a different spin on the traditional gift of flowers for Valentines Day. Give the gift of bulbs this year! If all goes well your gift will be a surprise twice, once when it is given, and second when it blooms.
I went down to Miller Farms to get my bulbs. I know nothing about flowers. Thankfully the staff at MF is very helpful. Make sure to select a bulb that will be blooming shortly after you give it, or else you will be staring at a bowl full of dirt for months.
I replanted my sprouting bulbs in a small pot and added a little potting soil. I decided to add a couple little chalk signs to spruce it up a little. The whole thing probably cost under $20. The wonder and amazement of the flowers blooming was amplified by the fact that I had forgotten what type of bulb I had planted. The purple flowers were as much of a surprise to me as they were to J. Or maybe that was part of the plan?
